Overview:
AISC Certified Structural Steel Fabricator seeking an Experienced Quality Control Manager
Major Responsibilities/Activities:
• Ensure that all materials and workmanship are completed in accordance with AWS or AISC
standards, drawings, and specifications, as applicable per site.
• Inspect materials and finished goods to ensure they meet customer requirements and/or contract
specifications and applicable State and local regulations, including but not limited to checking
welds, welding consumables, base material, cut and formed parts, layout work and coatings.
• Review welding specs and/or requirements for each project and work with team to solve
fabrication challenges.
• Document and segregate non-conforming fabricated material and workmanship.
• Review and work with site management and shop foreman to address remedies for non-conformances
and their prevention.
• Responsible for implementing, managing, and improving the company Quality Assurance Program to
maintain the company vision of providing the absolute best in products and customer satisfaction.
• Maintain Quality Assurance manual in accordance with AISC requirements.
• Develop and maintain record keeping systems and procedures for tracking quality control
objectives.
• Clearly communicate quality control goals and objectives to key personnel within the
organization.
• Inspect in-process and finished production by confirming specifications, conducting visual &
measurement tests. Communicate non-conformances to the appropriate personnel. Help resolve
non-conformances in accordance with applicable codes and guidelines.
• Understand non-destructive weld testing methods and when such tests shall be conducted.
• Coordinate third party inspections when required on in-process and finished work.
• Establish, check, and maintain credentials of staff welders to confirm each individuals welding
qualifications.
Required Skills:
• 3+ years Quality Control management Experience
• Knowledge of American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) and American Iron and Steel
Institute (AISI) standards
• Familiar with American Welding Society (AWS) standards and specifications
• Knowledge of Structural Steel Fabrication methods and equipment.
• Solid understanding of bolting standards and techniques.
• Solid understanding of welding procedures as well as knowledge of welding equipment,
welding
rods, testing, etc.
• Solid understanding of in-house painting procedures, paint products, testing, etc.
• ASNT NDT Level 2 or 3 Certification is desirable.
• Strong people skills
• Ability to read and interpret construction documents and fabrication drawings.
• Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
